There was also a slight decrease in the heart rate of the subjects. All these changes were recorded without any significant alteration in the diet or exercise program of the research participants.

So what it is in green coffee beans that make it a fat burner? It’s not caffeine according to experts, but rather to the presence of chlorogenic acid. It is a natural compound found in coffee beans. However, it is not present in the coffee you drink every day because it is broken down way earlier, specifically during the roasting of the coffee beans.

How does chlorogenic acid assist in weight loss? Experts suggest that it prevents the release of sugar into the blood stream. When this happens, there is a reduced amount of glucose in the blood stream and this leads to reduced fat absorption.

In 2007, a study was published in the Journal of International Medical Research which found out that humans who consumed instant coffee with chlorogenic acid lost weight because of lower glucose sugar absorption. Even in animal subjects like mice, chlorogenic acid has been proven effective in lowering fat synthesis.

The chlorogenic acid present in coffee can also improve your mood. This was the result of a study conducted in 2012 and published in the journal “Psychoparmacology” which suggested that drinking coffee supplemented with chlorogenic acid can positively affect one’s mood. When you are in a better mood, there’s a high likelihood that you’ll be more energetic especially during exercises.
